A Brief Introduction
There has been a tradition of printing and bookbinding in Edinburgh for over 500 years. Our very own origins began at the very heart of this city some time ago. Starting life in Merchant Street, just down from Greyfriars, we took inspiration from the city’s rich print heritage.
We then edged our way a little further out the centre to where we are now, happily situated in Leith. Firmly rooted in tradition, and drawing on over fifty years of experience in the trade, we carefully blend tried and tested traditional techniques with modern technology to ensure that we stay in step with new developments in the printing industry without loosing our heritage.
Bookbinding by Crawford started out and still are specialist bookbinders with expertise in leather binding, thesis binding, restoration work and bespoke binding. Using traditional binding techniques, we carefully blend hand and machine work to lavish care and attention on your product from start to finish.
The aspirations and imagination of clients helped us forge together our bookbinding, print and print finishing expertise to being able to offer a complete range of products and services. We undertake all types of work, from single presentation copies up to and beyond 2,000 casebound books.
Our student area is here to offer help, advice and support for those who need it. With tutorials and online demonstrations helping you understand what options are available and how to generate print ready files.
